Prognosis
It is never too late for individuals with dyslexia to learn to read, process, and express information more efficiently. Research shows that programs utilizing Structured Literacy instructional techniques can help children and adults learn to read. Of course, early intervention is best, and when a child shows signs of dyslexia the best course is to begin a Structured Literacy Program. In the case of older children and adults, hope should not be lost. Studies show that Structured Literacy Programs change and create neural pathways in the brain for better reading. The process can take 1-2 years depending on the severity of dyslexia, but it can be done! So many successful, amazing, and happy people have dyslexia. Do not lose hope, just continue to move forward!
